The Bishop Morse Youth Camp 2019 will take place from Sunday afternoon, June 30th, at 4:00 p.m. to Friday Morning, July 5th, at 10:00 a.m. at Warm Beach Camp and Conference Center in Stanwood, Washington, about an hour north of Seattle.
Founded by Bishop Morse in the early 80's, the overarching goal of the Camp has always been to bring young Anglicans together to worship God especially in the Eucharist, to learn more about the foundations of their Faith, to grow more fully in their commitment to their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, to form friendships that will last through the years and to just plain have fun.
Each day begins with the Eucharist in a chapel overlooking Puget Sound followed by a full [hot] breakfast. After clean up time, the campers meet for Morning Prayer and classes guided by the clergy of the Province. After lunch, the afternoons are given to a variety of activities including team building on the high ropes, horseback riding, canoeing and miniature golf. After dinner, the campers practice for skit night [and yes, even the clergy must perform] swim, play the all time favorite "Capture the Flag" and devour S'mores by the campfire. Each day ends with a wrap up (looking back on the day), Evening Prayer, personal time and light's out.
Archbishop Morse strongly supported and attended the the Provincial Youth Camps from the beginnings of the Diocese of Christ the King because he knew that the Faith must be transmitted to each new generation. The camp fee is $325 if paid before March 30th, 2019 and $350 until June 2nd which is the cut off date. Scholarships are available but applications must be made before March 15th, 2019. Please consider sending your child or grandchild. Parishes, please consider sponsoring a camper or joining the $50 a month club to support the camp. The camp manager Erin Salazar along with Mary Margaret Feagin attended the early camps and are both communicants in their parishes.
